Assignment 15A – Figuring out Buyer Behavior 2
Report on Findings
In this
segment of interviews, I spoke to students who were out of class, and searching
for their parked vehicle. These students didn’t offer many alternatives, but a
few ideas were presented. My first interviewee suggested at least keeping some
kind of parking guard in the busiest lots, controlling what is going on. This
would solve the problem of safety but doesn’t offer more than a few extra
spaces, which would be due to more organized lots. The cost of paying parking
assistants would extend past the cost for a few more lots throughout the years.
It also
just happened that one of my interviewees returned to a damage vehicle this
day. His car was parked in the garage near the athletic facilities, which was
jam packed since 9am. In this area of campus, there is not much extra room, but
before we even got to his damaged vehicle, he offered the suggestion of making
the event parking lot at least 50% garage. He believes his vehicle was the
victim of getting scraped as the car next to him backed out, since he recalled
being weary of leaving his car in that spot but he had already been looking for
awhile.
My other
interviewee was a senior, who says he has figured out the tips and tricks to
parking his scooter. His technique involves driving down the sidewalk or grass
behind the lots, and fits his vehicle wherever. Again, this does not improve
the safety of the parking, and it also shows that the area near the lots is
available in certain places.
These
interviews showed, like the others, that the need is there and strong, but no
easy or certain fix that there is, other than more lots can fix. With minimal
space taken in many areas I believe our school could be even better for
students, guests, and faculty.
