Assignment 14A – Halfway Reflection
Tenaciousness is a competency Throughout this
course I have begun to develop some great skills and behaviors that I believe
are key to the success of an entrepreneur. Beginning with organizational
skills, to be successful and devote the necessary amount of time to this class
it takes organization. At the beginning of this term I struggled to manage the
assignments for this class along with other classes, work, and a social life.
The assignments we have done take preparation and planning which turn out way
better with 4-5 days instead of one. I would say my market research ability has
increased due to figuring out which questions to ask and the difference between
demographics. There are a few other behaviors that are growing on me and I know
after time I will fully grasp them.
Tenaciousness is also
about attitude
Including my workload that I have other than
this class, there is always the thought of, “oh I can miss this assignment and
only drop 2 points, but the entrepreneur side of my personality never lets that
happen. Also, many of the assignments for this class interest me and get my
motivation to come back. For instance, the assignments where we looked for
opportunities on a local or national scale, opened my eyes back up to all of
the opportunity available. These assignments are constant reminders that hard
work will pay off and that this class is great for the entrepreneurial mind.
Three tips
If I could give next semesters student a few
hints and tips for being successful and getting the most out of this class it
would be this: schedule, give assignments requiring interviews thought ahead of
time, and don’t neglect the lectures. The scheduling I already mentioned, but
giving time to the interviews can completely change how they go. With the right
questions, interviewees are willing to give more input, and understand your
concept better, which ends up giving you the information to do the written
portion easily. Not neglecting the lectures also makes the tenacious mindset
set in more. They usually give more meaning to the assignments and they feel
more real world and less like busywork.
