24A- Venture Concept No. 1
Opportunity:
-Parking lots on
campus are often crowded and packed, leading to dangerous conditions for
commuters.
-Students
commuting themselves, especially on scooters, has increased significantly in
the last 15 years, with little compensation.
-Due to the small
area and busy schedules of individuals involved, a magnitude of effects come
from this issue which could be resolved.
-So far, nobody
has put together a solution for this issue and instead, a decal system and small
improvements were made throughout the years.
-Potential
customers would be anyone interested in this concept which involves students,
administrators, and faculty who commute to campus daily. The idea would also
reach other universities where parking affects students.
Innovation:
-To appeal to
individuals with the need, I would begin a campaign to boost popularity over
the idea. With more people involved, the concept can reach deeper.
-To appeal to the
universities, a proposal for new lots in appropriate spaces, build on, and
representation of support would be provided for consideration from them.
Venture Concept:
-Student
life will improve due to less stress for them on a daily basis. When parking
causes someone to be late, an entire day could be ruined.
-less negative
energy towards university would exist because, well, there would be less
negativity.
-Avoid vehicle
damage- everyday vehicles get damaged on campus, whether it’s one of the packed
lots or a tiny space that you are trying to fit in.
-Safety is a big
issue, especially in scooter parking lots. Having a clear lane and line of
sight is crucial to having safe roads for the many scooter riders.
Price points:
-N/A
Distribution:
-I would begin by
hosting stands on campus to raise awareness of the issue, and with the
interviews alreay conducted, I have a team interested in helping me out.
-Making a mark on
the administration to which I am proposing to is important, so a solid
foundation must be set before I get there.
Location:
-All over campus,
especially the main campus in Gainesville. Since the opportunity has shown to
exist in other places, it would go a step further.
Employees:
The team of
passionate people I have behind me consist of people who have been affected in
a way that makes them want to improve. These people don’t want to see the
parking blues get to any more people and are pushing to prevent it.
Unfair advantage:
-My ventures
unfair advantage is that it is local to this area, and a top interest regarding
campus improvements for most people. My concept also has strong backing
consisting of a group of people attempting to push the idea forward and to the
right people.
What’s next:
-I want to end
this aspect of campus negativity. Many students suffer from this everday
whether its stress related, vehicle relted, or health related. Everyone could
benefit from a better parking system and more spaces.
For me:
-I would like to
solve more issues regarding our campus and strive to make us the #1 university.
With someone driven by student needs, a huge change could come helping students.
I believe you are right about your unfair advantage David. This is clearly an issue to the locals and you have found a group of people who are behind your ideas for improvements that will be able to help you make them a reality. Having that support system is probably one of the most crucial aspects of your entrepreneurial journey.
